You will need to order the 5/16 hose for this siphon. Heat the hose in hot water for a few seconds and work it onto the siphon about 1/2" for a really good seal. I have found that I can get more of my beer out of the carboy with this siphon than the 1/2" siphon because it is more narrow and will reach further into the bottom corner of the carboy. If time is the issue then you should go with the 1/2" siphon (item#1445) You won't get as much of your brew but it will flow a lot faster. I don't like the racking canes because the are a pain to get started.You either have to suck on the end of it to get it started which can cause contamination or get water into the hose to start the siphoning. I love my Auto-Siphon. Don't forget the Auto Siphon clip (item#1444b)for hands free siphoning.
